Tow Safe® Hitch Installation System
Clay’s RV utilizes the state of the art Tow-Safe® Hitch Installation System for precision weight distribution and hitch set-up. Using a 20,000 lb scale built into the floor of our facilities, Tow-Safe ensures that the weight on the front wheels of the tow vehicle is as close to factory specs as possible, both before and after your trailer is hooked up. These steps insure that your tow vehicle and trailer will give you optimum safety and performance.
Step 1. We bring the RV and tow vehicle to a level location in our service bay.
Step 2. We weigh the trailer at the axles and at the tongue.
Step 3. We weigh the tow vehicle at the rear axle, and the front steering axle.
Step 4. We install the weight distribution hitch and hook up the trailer. There are 16 different possible hitch set up combinations, Tow-Safe ensures the correct settings are used to keep the front wheels steering and braking properly.
Step 5. We adjust the electronic brake system. Most of todays RV’s have brakes that will stop the RV and some of the tow vehicle.
